Mace Ballard at the NiteSpot

Just a reminder to all Duquesne students, WDSR will be sponsoring local band Mace Ballard at the Nitespot this weekend.
It’s free for those with a DU I.D. and there will be free food!
Stop by Friday October 30th at 10 pm and check out some great local music.

And don’t forget to keep listening and sending your requests to WDSR – Duquesne Student Radio.

Brittany chats with Strike Anywhere tomorrow night

Hey guys,
I’ll be talking to Strike Anywhere tomorrow night at their show at Altar Bar. Also, tentatively arranging an interview with Polar Bear Club, Ruiner, and/or Crimes in Stereo.
How many interviews can Brittany tackle at one show? I guess we’ll find out.
Expect the interviews to air next week. Likely during my show, Alternative to the Alternative, on Thursday the 15th at 8PM.

Keep listening,
Brittany Brashear

Matt and Matt Show – Upcoming guests!

What’s up all you crazy cats and chicks out there?

We’ll be back on the air this week after taking last week off for G20. We’ll be on tomorrow night from 7-9 PM, as per usual. Friend of the show Chris Reese will join us via the M&M Hotline for some Pigskin Pick ‘Em and other nonsense.

Next week, October 7th, Dukes quarterback Kevin Rombach will join us in studio to talk Duquesne football and other happenings around campus.

Also, for those who haven’t heard, you can now directly stream WDSR through a media player on the WDSR website. This means you can listen to the station even if you don’t have iTunes or Winamp–just go to www.wdsr.org and click the Play button on the “Shout Stream” on the homepage.

Peace fools!

First show of the semester and special guests!

Be sure to listen to my first show this academic year on Thursday Sept. 17 from 8 – 10 pm

I’ll be playing some new music, some old music, and I’ll be featuring two special guests in the second hour of my show. Fellow Duquesne students Christopher Bradley and George Zavadak will be discussing senatorial and gubernatorial politics and, of course, picking out some songs to play while they catch their breaths between debates.

And give our new (and returning) DJs a listen, too. We’ve got some great shows this year.

Join the cause

I did an interview on the air this evening with Duquesne student Annie Dahlkemper, who went on a hunger strike for 24 hours to bring about awareness for Darfur.

If you missed it, don’t worry.  You can still help out.  Visit Add Your Voice or Pittsburgh Darfur to learn about and spread awareness of the genocide in Darfur.

Thanks and keep listening,

Brittany

EAR CANDY

EAR CANDY

I’m trying out new personas this year.  I’m learning how to cook, I’ve taken dance classes and now I’m your dj every Wednesday from 3-5pm.  So I’ve been playing music and pressing buttons…the picture’s getting clearer but still a little blurry. It’s like trying to get a moving object in focus with your camera…I adjust each time and it gets a little better, but I’m still waiting for the perfect picture. It’s intriguing, so bear with me. I haven’t come up with the perfect radio show YET…but after weeks of self-deliberation (or procrastination), I’ve come up with the perfect name.

So tune into Ear Candy, a radio show that will treat your ears with sweet melodies and thought-provoking commentary hosted by yours truly.

I’ll post a schedule soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
